  8. This driver diskette contains 2 drivers, a PCL 5 WYSIWYG/Graphics driver
  9. and a text driver. The PCL 5 Wysiwyg driver includes font files allowing
  10. you to use the scalable resident fonts of your Lexmark 4047 5E printer
  11. when printing from the WYSIYYG ( : Print ) menu.

  13. These drivers will only work with 1-2-3 Release 2.3 or 1-2-3 Release 2.4.
  14. They will NOT work with 1-2-3 Release 2.2 (Allways) or with 1-2-3 for Home.

  38. II.  Installation Instructions:
  39.  
  40. Before the new PCL 5 drivers can be installed, an Update program must be
  41. run to update the Lotus 1-2-3 Install Program, copy the new fonts to your
  42. 1-2-3 directory, and unpack the appropriate WYSIWYG drivers.
  43.  
  44. The UPDATE program will determine which version of 1-2-3 you have installed
  45. in the disk and directory path you specify.
  46.  
  47. If 1-2-3 Release 2.3 or 2.4 is found, the UPDATE program will display
  48. which version has been found and give you an opportunity to proceed
  49. with the update or to press Ctrl-Break and abort the upgrade process.
  50.  
  51. After proceeding, UPDATE will copy over the new fonts and an update to the
  52. Install Program.  Then it will unpack the appropriate WYSIWYG drivers.
  53. When the Update program has completed, continue with the remainder of the
  54. instructions in this file to to install the drivers.

  56.    1.  Insert Driver Disk 1 of the Lexmark 4047 5E Printer Installation
  57.        Utilities in a diskette drive.
  58.  
  59.             Make sure the write - protect tab covers the little
  60.             square hole on the 3.5" diskette (this allows writing to
  61.             the diskette and permits UPDATE to unpack the appropriate
  62.             set of drivers).
  63.  
  64.    2.  Make the diskette drive which contains Driver Disk 1 the current drive.
  65.  
  66.             Example: if the diskette is in drive A type A: and press ENTER.
  67.  
  68.    3.  The next step requires that you know the exact name of the disk and
  69.        directory where your 1-2-3 program files (including the INSTALL program)  Determine the name before proceeding.

  72.    4.  Type UPDATE z:\xxxxxx        where   z       is the disk
  73.                                     and     xxxxxx  is the directory name

  79.    5.  The UPDATE program will determine which version of 1-2-3 you have

  93.    7.  Type INSTALL and press ENTER.

  95.    8.  At the "Lotus 1-2-3 Install Program" screen, press ENTER.

  97.    9.  At the "Main Menu" screen, highlight "Change Selected Equipment"
  98.        and press ENTER.

  100.   10.  At the "Change Selected Equipment" screen, highlight "Add New
  101.        Drivers to Library" and press ENTER.

  103.   11.  Specify the letter of the drive which contains Driver Disk 1 of
  104.        the Lexmark 4047 5E Printer Installation Utilities, and press ENTER.

  106.   12.  At the "Change Selected Equipment" screen, highlight "Modify
  107.        Current Driver Set" and press ENTER.
  108.  
  109.   13.  At the "Modify Current Driver Set" screen, highlight "Text Printer"
  110.        and press ENTER.

  112.   14.  At the "Text Printer Selection" screen, highlight "Lexmark" and
  113.        press ENTER.

  115.   15.  At the second "Text Printer Selection" screen, highlight
  116.        "4047 5E (/Print)" and press ENTER.

  118.   16.  At the "Modify Current Driver Set" screen, highlight "Graphics Printer"
  119.        and press ENTER.

  121.   17.  At the "Graphics Printer Selection" screen, highlight "Lexmark" and
  122.        press ENTER.

  124.   18.  At the second "Graphics Printer Selection" screen, highlight
  125.        "4047 5E (:Print)" and press ENTER.

  127.   19.  At the "Modify Current Driver Set" screen, highlight "Return to
  128.        Previous Menu" and press ENTER.

  130.   20.  At the "Change Selected Equipment" screen, highlight "Save the
  131.        Current Driver Set" and press ENTER.

  133.   21.  At the "Saving Your Changes" screen:

  135.            To accept the name displayed, press ENTER.
  136.            To change the name, follow on-screen instructions.
  137.            If unsure, accept default name by pressing ENTER.

  139.   22.  At the "Generating Fonts" screen, press ENTER.
  140.  
  141.   23.  At the next screen you may select a set (Basic, Medium, or
  142.        Extended) of font sizes to generate. The more extensive the font
  143.        set, the more disk space required, and the longer it takes to do
  144.        the generation. NOTE - See "Generating Fonts" in your Lotus 1-2-3
  145.        for DOS manuals for more information.  After highlighting your
  146.        your choice, press ENTER.

  148.   24.  If you selected Basic, skip to Step 28.
  149.  
  150.   25.  If you chose Medium or Extended, you will be asked "Do you want
  151.        to generate font sizes now?"  Answer "Yes" and Install will
  152.        generate the fonts now and you should skip to Step 28.

  154.   26.  If you Answered "No" you may generate the fonts later by using
  155.        the Fontgen program.  You will be at the "Main Menu" screen.
  156.        Highlight "End Install" and press ENTER.  Go to Step 29.

  158.   27.  After the completion of font generation you will get a "Install
  159.        successfully generated the fonts......" message.  Press any key to
  160.        end Install. Installation is complete.  Skip to Step 29.

  162.   28.  At the "End Install" screen, highlight "Yes" and press ENTER to end
  163.        Install.
  164.  
  165.   29.  To select a text driver for use in Lotus 1-2-3, start Lotus
  166.        by Typing 123 and Pressing ENTER.  When the spreadsheet screen
  167.        appears, Type / and then select Worksheet, Global, Default,
  168.        Printer, Name and choose "Lexmark 4047 5E (/Print)". Press ENTER.

  170.   30.  At this point you may check (or alter) your printer port
  171.        connection by Selecting Interface.  You have several Interface
  172.        options.  For best performance select one of the parallel or
  173.        serial options.  "Parallel 1" (1) is the usual connection.
  174.        If you are using AES, you must select one of the "Output
  175.        Device" selections:  usually "Output Device LPT1" (5).
  176.        Make your choice and press ENTER.

  178.   31.  Select Quit once.  Select Update to save the settings you just
  179.        made.
  180.  
  181.   32.  Select Quit.  Your printer driver is now ready for use
  182.        with Lotus 1-2-3 for DOS in text mode.

  184.   33.  To select the Lexmark 4047 5E for use in WYSIWYG mode,
  185.        activate the WYSIWYG addin if it is not already activated,
  186.        and then proceed to the next step.
  187.  
  188.   34.  Type : and then select Print, Config, Printer, and choose
  189.        "Lexmark 4047 5E (:Print).  Press ENTER and select Quit, Quit.
  190.  
  191.   35.  To save this WYSIWYG settings as your system default,
  192.        type  : and then select Display, Default, Update, Quit.

  196. III. Usage Notes:
  197.  
  198. You should explicitly select your printer in WYSIWYG using the : Print
  199. Configure Printer menu item before printing.  Saving the worksheet will
  200. save the new printer name with the worksheet and FMT file if the printer
  201. name was changed.
  202.  
  203. It is important to NOT rename the IFL files, as their specific names are
  204. necessary for proper use with the PCL 5 drivers.  It is also important to
  205. go through the Generating Fonts part of INSTALL, otherwise, you will not
  206. be able to access the new fonts.
  207.  
  208. If you have worksheets that used the old HP Universe, HP Courier,
  209. or any previous versions of the HP IFL files, you must use :Format Font
  210. Replace and select the new IFL files.  After that, save the worksheet.
  211. This will guarantee that the new IFL files are in use and that the
  212. enhancements in the updated driver will take effect.
